The existing I-80/SR 65 interchange was constructed in late 1985. Because of the region’s growth over the past two decades, the interchange and the I-80 and SR 65 corridors are experiencing increasing traffic congestion. The high traffic demands during the commute hours and the recreational trips to the Sierras congest the project area on a regular basis. The I-80/SR 65 Interchange Improvements Project is intended to reduce traffic congestion, improve operations and enhance safety.
The overall project consists of the following phases:
- Project Study Report (completed by Caltrans in 2009)
- Project Approval and Environmental Document (currently underway) –
